Are we lifting the mask mandate?
The mask mandate was just lifted for those that are vaccinated. After much thought, research, and discussion with not just our team here at AK Newtown, but with our other locations, including the Founders of Action Karate; simply the answer is NO. While we continue to monitor the mandate, our goal is to keep our students safe. And so, we find it best to require masks for everyone as long as children are still required to wear them.
Here are the changes you will see for the mask mandate:
When outdoors you must arrive with your mask. Once you approach your spot on the training area, you may remove them. However, you must stay on your spot. Should you move around or come within a closer distance for a drill, your mask must be on. In addition, we will also provide a small plastic baggie for your mask for safe-keeping or you can simply place your mask inside your gi when in full uniform.
Please remember removing your mask is your choice. You do not need to remove your mask if you do not wish to do so.
As for Instructors:
They will have their masks on at all times. The only Instructor you will see without a mask is the Head Instructor outdoors. This is only when they are 10-15 feet away while instructing. This is for the students to understand the Instructor for a more effective class – if the Instructor is to move any closer, they will have their mask on.
All students, instructors, parents, and families over the age of 2 must have masks on at all times indoors, regardless of any social distance.
Are our Instructors vaccinated?
Yes, the majority of our Senior Staff are vaccinated, with the exception of one whom will be masked and social distanced at all times – this will be rectified in the coming months.
Playroom will still be closed. Sparring is still discontinued as it is a contact sport. As a small minor change, we will now be collecting cards from students when they line up.
Hello Action Karate Families,
We want to thank you for your support, trust, and commitment over these last 8 months. At Action Karate we are very committed to adhere and follow the recommended rules and guidelines set by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf, State Health Secretary Rachael Levine, the CDC, and Department of Health. With the recent updates announced on Tuesday, November 17th, we will continue to follow these safety measures and are 100% committed to making your martial arts training a safe and healthy environment.
At this time, classes will continue virtually and in-person; please remember, when indoors masks must remain on at all times, even if maintaining social distance and masks must be worn outdoors if you cannot maintain 6-feet distance. In addition, temperature checks will be taken upon arrival as well as a survey of any possible symptoms. On Tuesday, it was announced if you travel outside the state, upon your return you must have a negative COVID-19 test 72 hours prior or quarantine for 14 days following your return. If this is the case, especially around the holidays, we are asking that you quarantine for 14 days. During this time, you are able to train virtually with us.
We appreciate everyone taking all necessary measures to protect yourselves, our students, and instructors during the Pandemic. With cases steadily growing in Bucks County, we do ask if you are by any chance in contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or displaying symptoms, please notify us ASAP to discuss your current situation. It is of the utmost importance to us to not only keep our families in a safe environment, but for our families to FEEL like they are safe at Action Karate Newtown. We will continue with our safety measures during and between classes, in addition to deep cleaning.
Once again, we thank you for your understanding and will continue to do everything we can do to make your martial arts training a place of tranquility during such a stressful time in our lives.
Stay safe, stay active, and rock those masks!
ASAH
Action Karate Newtown
We want to ensure you that we will be following very strict protocols to make sure everyone is safe and healthy.
While distancing may be a part of our new normal, staying active and connected remains important. Exercise and wellness are important to keep our bodies healthy and our minds strong.
That’s why we are committed to the well-being of our Action community – ensuring our members and employees can continue to train and practice in a healthy environment.
We also need the help of our members to guarantee a safe environment by respecting each other’s space and following our new “Kicking it into Action” initiative. We thank everyone in advance for being a part of our team.
We’ve implemented heightened cleaning measures to ensure the health and well-being of our employees and students. We are disinfecting all soft, hard and non-porous surfaces along with all our equipment after every single class using a hospital approved antibacterial cleaning agent called AIRX SPRAY-N-GO. This is 100% safe, fume and odor-free.
Sanitizing includes:
All staff members are required to clean and sanitize after every class.
Antibacterial hand sanitizer will be provided at entrances, exits, of the building and the gym mats.
Antibacterial wipes will be used and readily available in stations around the studio.
Employees and students are encouraged to wash their hands with soap and water as often as possible.
Ceiling fans will be on and doors will also be open to allow air flow.
Behavioral Enforcement: Signage will be in place in employee’s locker room, public restrooms, employee kitchen, offices and all public spaces reminding to “keep it clean”.
*In December we will start using an electric fogger / sprayer machine that will be used in between every class to sanitize the air, extra sanitization on surfaces and flooring*
In order to re-open in a safe and conscious manner, we are limiting the number of employees and students in the building. This will be done by reducing class size, allowing on-line ZOOM and LIVE in-person classes over the next few months until we are advised by the state of Pennsylvania, Lower Bucks County, and Newtown Township that the mitigation phase is over.
Students and accompanying guests not wearing masks will be denied entry. A contactless thermometer will be used to check the temperature of each student one at a time before entry. If temperature is not normal the parent will be advised privately and asked to escort student to their car.
Employees will be supplied non-medical masks and plenty of soap and water and antibacterial supplies at all times. We will enforce a six-foot distance at all times with every individual in the building, on and off the studio floor.
